  1. The significance of the heather birds are that they are an image that was painted in the old mans head. Hether birds was something that was made up, these birds sin all day, tir yerows are tasty, and their purple. The importance of these birds was basically that they sent important meang to Milllicent, and she realized a great understanding at the end, in my opinion she learned to herself and being in a group with popular kids are not that important.

  3. The significance of the heather birds metaphor at the conclusion of this story is that it shows individuality. In the short story "Initiation" Millicent is struggling to find out where she belongs. She chooses to be like a heather bird different from everyone else. Sylvia compares heather birds and sparrows as a metaphor.

  4. The significane of the heather birds were that even though she wanted to join this initiation she knows she could be different by being the same.what i mean by this is doing the same thing as everyone in her group she could be different.Just like the man that was different by imagining things. Also she knows that being popular is not everything. In conclusion this is the significance of the heather birds

  6. The exact significance of heather birds have something to do with someone's individuality. In the book "Initiation", the main character Millicent, was trying to indicate that sometimes, being a heather bird can be healthy for anyone. Instead of trying to following someone or trying to get into something that can possibly make you popular, you can just learn to be your own person. Don't try to be something your not. That's what I think about the metaphor. Taj Estep 2A
