Tonight's Homework:

"I think banning books is a very, very dangerous thing. It takes away an important freedom. Any time there is an attempt to ban a book, you should fight it as hard as you can. It’s okay for a parent to say, ‘I don’t want my child to read this book.’ But it is not okay for anyone to try to make that decision for other people."

How do you feel about this statement? Do you agree or disagree with it? DEFEND YOUR OPINION. Post your comments in a five-sentence-BCR by the start of next class!

I think banning books is very bad not necessarily dangerous. I can state for a face banning books would hurt children's educations so far as school, also adults and college students. People's reading levels would be low, have a lack of strong vocabulary, and do poor on tests; for example: the comprehension part of a test. I strongly disagree against banning books. Me myself like to read a good book occasionally, and if they were to ban books i would probably find reading boring and not exciting once so ever. Therefore to keep people excited about reading and learning we should keep books out for the public.

I think banning books is very bad for some kids. Because your taking part of what they might need to learn and have a successful life! I disagree against banning books. Because kids as well us adults they want to learn and understand new things. I like to read action books when there's nothing to do. Therefore to keep the people around the world educated and inform of many things we should keep books.

  3. I think banning books is bad for people because some people need too read so you can learn how to read better and get to pronounce your words better and learn big words. I think its wrong because you need to know how to read to get a job and do something with your life out here. What ever you do out here it envolves reading.

ive thought about it . i agree w/ the satement made . i think that everyone should be given the opportunity to read said book . i think it should simply be up to a parent if they would like there child to read a certain book or not . to completely ban a book is absurd .

  5. I agree with the statement. i think banning books is a stupid idea because we need books. We need books for school in all subjects. Books are important because not only do they give us knowledge but they give us entertainment. If You don't want your child to read and be dumb enough to say books are bad for them you want your child to do nothing in life because you need books everywhere you go.

  6. I agree with the statement. If you are not interested in the book, then don't read it. Everyone has different perception on the books, its content, meaning and the knowledge it conveys to us. It might be very helpful or beneficial to others. We may criticize a book as long as we want. But just because you don't like the book for selfish reason or opinion then its not fair to ban.

  7. I think that banning book's is not all that bad. I think that because the book's people like to read lots if books. But if the banned books then watever books people you can find them online or the internet. So i obviously think that banning books is not all that bad cause you can find any book you want online. 8. I Believe that banning books for children can effect in a harmful way because they should be able to expand their vocabulary, explore the nature of books, and express their feelings in books. When children read books they discover new words which makes they expand their vocabulary. When they read different books they always discover something new. Also they have the chance to get things off their mind by reading.

  9. I Agree With The statement made about banning books. Books Are used Everywhere across world. To some people books are Everything they have. Without Books The world would be crazy . How would we learn ? How would We have school ? How would We even be able to read without books. To me books are Everything Because the feeling of just reading a book can make You feel free Or happy Books Make me people into better people, So banning books will be a very crazy bad thing to do to the world

  10. i Agree With The Statement. i Think Banning Books Is a bad Idea because People Wouldnt Be Nothing Without books. An if People didn't Know how To Read How Can They couldnt Get Through Life Like That. But Students At schools Wouldnt be learning Because its taking away the learning in classrooms. For The People Who Think books should be banned , they only saying that because they go use computers. But Computers is not the KEY !

  11. I Agree with the statement our education comes from books.Books are based off knowledge on what the authors know.Students need books to help them better read or understand something. If Books got banded that would be real crazy,we needs them there like special tools.People say education is the key but with out books to bulid an higher level of understanding there would be no higher key.

  12. Yes I Agree With The Statement. I Agree Becuase Reading Helps You Build Your Vocabulary. Also If We Didnt Have Books, Classrooms Would Be Taught Diffrent. Most Kids Would Be Happy Because They Would Have To Use The Computer, But That Is A Distraction Because They Might Be On Other Networks Instead Of Doing Work. Books Should Never Be Banned.
