  2. To be free means to be able to do things on your own and be independent. You don't have to follow after other people. You have the right to be your own person. A sacrifice being made for freedom is the war! Soldiers are risking their lives to make sure that we can live peacefully in this country. Freedom is worth it because yes there are other sacrifices being made, and if nobody were willing to make those sacrifices, imagine the way we would be living.

  3. Being free means that you can do what ever you want, live the way you want, and say what you want. To live in a free society I would make sacrifices like following laws that are made. That's not hard compared to if you lived in a country were you can't be your self. I can't imagine living in a society with no freedom because I can't be my self. I would have to be what ever my leader says.

To be free means that you are independent and at liberty and that you are not controlled by obligation or the will of another. To me freedom means that you can do things on your own free will. Some sacrifices i would make would to be bold and stand up for what i believe in. I believe that freedom is worth anything because if you aren’t free then what do you have to live for.

  6. To be free means to be able to do and choose what ever you want to do. Having freedom means being able to voice your opinion and being able for you to speak your mind. Its also not having to go by someone else rules and regulations. If I had to make any sacrifices to be free I really don't know what sacrifices I would make. Also, yes I do think freedom is worth it.

To be free means to do what you want, you are not controlled by anyone. Freedom means to me that you are able to do whatever you want you just have to follow the rules. You have the freedom of speak and you are able to worship who ever you want, you have the right you just can't cross the line. I don't know what sacrifies I would make to be free. I have never been in that position where I had to make sacrifies but if I was to be put in that position the sacrifies and decsions I make would be worth it.

In my own words to be free means that you do not have to look to anyone or anything to obtain satisfaction or permission to do something. Also it means that you are not being opressed by an outside force weather its is physically or spiritually. To me freedom is another word for being free but you mostly hear talk of freedom when refering to more than one person/country or area. The sacrifices i would be willing to make to be in a free society is to make sure everyone is equal and no one is discriminated against based on economic status, apperance, race, sexual orientation, or religion. Yes i believe freedom is worth it, why live life in a physical state as an enslaved mistreated person, you only live once (others may disagree) so why not make the best of it?

To be free means you are in charge of yourself and you don't have to depend on anyone. To me freedom means that you are able to do whatever you want without having any restrictions or limits. Some freedoms that Americans have are freedom of speech, religion, press, expression, etc.; somebody stood up for what they believed in and now we are givens these freedoms but they do have limits on them. I am thankful for the 13th Amendment which helped to abolish slavery. If slavery had not been abolished my classmates & I may have been slaves. And when you are a slave you are not free, everything you do is limited by your master( The person who controls you).

  13. To me being free means being able to be yourself without being criticized. There is no point in being able to do what you want if society is gonna criticize you and make you feel like what you doing is wrong. Many things we believe we are able to do, but are we really free to do them? or do our peers intimidate us and limit us to only doing what is believed to be right by the majority? I believe no one should change who they are and still not be ashamed of who they are. Regardless of ethnicity, religious beliefs gender, or sexual orientation no one should feel like their own home if not a safe place to be what they were born to be, themselves.

  14. In my own words I think that to be free means that you have the right to do whatever you want to do without having to follow any rules that someone else tells you to do. I think that freedom means that you dont have to ask for any permission to do something because you make your own decisions. You can freely express yourself and it wont harm you or count against you.One sacrifice that I would be willing to make in order to live in a free society is getting more people to speak up on an issue that they may have and be consistent until they get what they want or a change is made.I would say that freedom is worth it.I would say that freedom is worth it because you get to be more independent and make your own decisions and you wont have to completelty follow every rule that someone gives you although there are many that we have to follow. If we had no freedom we would be like someones slave walking around doing every command they tell us to do without us having a say so.We have made many sacrifices to get the freedom that we have so we deserve it.

  15. To be "free" means that you can do what you want when you want without having any consequences. "Freedom" to me means to have the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants. Sacrifices I would make in order to live in a "free" society would be to go to jail for freedom of speech if i couldn't speak freely . Sacrifices i would be willing to make in order to live in a "free" society would be to give up the right to advertise my faith without debate.Yes, freedom is worth it because, without freedom what would we have to live for?

  16. For me as a student to be ''free'' means I am able to make my own decisions in my life without interference from anyone else and without having any consequences. And when people do not tell you what to do for what you want to do. The sacrifices i would make in order to live in a ''free'' society would be respecting people's decision to make sure that all people are created equal and fairly. That no one is being discriminated by their gender, race, physical appearance, religion. I would also follow the rules and regulations acquired in our society in able to make a perfect union not just for yourself but to other people too. Yes i say freedom is worth it. Because without it, Americans until now may be slaves if freedom wasn't granted and wanted. >:D<

  17. To be free is to have control over your own life. To me, freedom means independence. you can make your own decisions and choices. you can be as different as you want. you can go to whatever school you want to, and you can worship whoever you want to. I do believe that freedom is worth it because everyone deserves to have control over their own lives. people don't deserve to be treated as prisoners in places that they call home. They shouldn't be told what to have as a career, who to marry, how many children they can have, and so on. And as for sacrifices, i would fight for my country to make sure that we continue to have freedom. --Bryce Davis-- 9/12/11 3B

  19. Freedom can mean many things to several people, but to me its something simple. Freedom to me means you are free to be yourself without worrying what people think about you. To me, with freedom you have all your rights, like free of speech. With freedom you should be able to do what you want without someone controlling you, but you can have someone to guide you. Freedom is worth having because you have the right to make your own choices without someone telling you or making you. Freedom is definitely worth it if you have family and friends dying for it everyday. To me freedom will always be worth having and saving. By: Candace Wyman 3B

  21. To be free means to be able to live your life without negative repercussions due to your actions. The liberty to make your own decisions while simultaneously weighing your consequences is a big part of freedom to me. Our freedoms are very much worth what the slaves had to endure. I don't think the slaves should have had to go there what they went through to get freedom now though. With all that the slaves experienced, there should have been more changes, but that's just my viewpoint on this matter. I appreciated what we have though and I am thankful for our rights to freedom and I’m also thankful nothing else has to happen like this to obtain what we deserve.

Its to be able to do something that you enjoy proudly. Freedom is something you can do that people don't judge you for. 24. In my opinion, "Freedom" is being able to express yourself freely, and not being discriminated against because of the way you chose to live your life. To be able to live in a "free" society is a blessing, and should really be appreciated throughout America, because not everyone has the same opportunity. Our soldiers sacrifice their lives everyday to ensure that we maintain our freedom. They make most/all of the sacrifices needed so that we won't have to. If I was put in the type of position where I had to make a sacrifice for my freedom, I would gladly take on the responsibility.

  27. To be "free" means that a person is in control of there own choices and actions. Freedom to me, didn't have much meaning until I was about nine or ten years old. Before those ages I thought all countries allowed their citizens basic rights like free speech. but as I got older and learned more about the United States and other countries, I started to realize that here in America, we have a lot of privileges that other people in other countries don't get. Now that I'm older, freedom means a lot to me. Being able to do such things as: post on a blog like this one, and make public works of art, is just something that citizens in other countries, can not do. without such freedoms as the ones that we have here in the United States, all the creativity that we see around us, would not exist. And to be honest; I don't want to live in a place where there's no creativity. That'd just be boring.

  28. Free- without restraint; completely wanting or lacking; able to act at will. What does freedom mean to me? I fell that there are two types of freedom, physical freedom and mental freedom.
A person can be physically free mean they are not imprisoned by bars or chains. Yet, a person can be physically free but in their mind they can be mentally imprisoned. For example, a depressed person is physically free to do what they want but has mental bondage.
In conclusion freedom to me is described as a that has peace of mind and can come and go without restraint. A free person is a person that can love, laugh and live as they please

Having freedom is having the power or right to act, speak, or think as one
without hindrance or restraint. But freedom to me is more than believing or
feeling what you want, it's about being open minded. Being free is about having
the ability to express yourself with out being influenced by others. If your
free you have the power to accomplish anything you put your mind to. You also
are confident with yourself & what you believe in.

  30. To be free means not to have any restraints placed on you. You can express yourself however you choose without being judged or told that you are doing something wrong. When you are happy with yourself a don't let others hold you back, that is freedom. I don't think someone should have to sacrifice anything for freedom, it is a divine right. I do think that freedom is worth a sacrifice because there is no way to live a fulfilling life if someone is telling you how to live.-Lauren McMillan 3B

To be free means to be able to make your own decisions and choices, being independent. Also, the power to determine action wothout restraint. Freedom is having the the right to express how you feel without anyone else telling you what not to say or what to say. Freedom is not just a word, it's an action. We have the freedom the workship what we believe and choose. The capablitity and ability to remain true to yourself and others around you without any fear of being judged.

  33. What does it mean to be "free?" What does "freedom" mean to you, and what sacrifices do you make or would you be willing to make in order to live in a "free" society?
    Is "freedom" worth it?

To me, to be free means to have no boundaries, unless the norms of society dictates it. "Freedom" and "Free" are different in my opinion. Freedom is more absolute. When you allow an animal to have its freedom, it is COMPLETELY free. No boundaries, no rules, not anything, just live and let die. Now in our case, "free", is different. Our "free" basically means less rules or restrictions. Because of our heightened level of intelligence to other mammals, we have developed ways to do things that would be hazardous if we were truely "free", such as crimes. People still do these things but there are consequences. A "free" society is a society, like the US, that allows people more rights than most countries. We can express ourselves however we would like. We can, most of the time, wear what we want, do what we
want, and say what we want, as long as we follow rules. To be honset, i have no clue what sacrifices i would make for freedom. However, if we lost our freedom and were made into puppets and slaves, then it would be time to open up a can of whoop arse. I wouldn't really mind a couple more rules as long as i can live my life
peacefully and how i would like it to be. Maybe a few petitons here and there but for the most part, i don't know what i would sacrifice for freedom. Freedom is worth it if it means getting out of a really nasty situation like slavery or imprisonment. If "freedom" means to you that you can't get a license till your 16, then you my
    friend, are sadly mistaken.

To be free and to truly have freedom means alot to me. It means to me that you have worked hard, and are intelligent enough in your decisions to break free of the chains of mental slavery, and truly obtain your own freedom. Choosing to be free is choosing to sacrifice anything and everything to obtain your true goal. Being free is deceiding within yourself that being like everyone else is not acceptable anymore, and choosing to develop your own opinion, and make sure that your voice is heard. This to me is when your have obtained true "Freedom".

  39. To me, being free is to be independent and live on your on time. Not having to worry about the rules or restrictions set in place by society. To me, being free is to have nothing holding you back, being able to accomplish your goals and dreams without anyone in the way, which isn't exactly an option, and pretty boring. There would be no struggle or story that makes your dreams significant. We all have a deifferent concept of freedom, and don't have a clear definition. We as civillians don't have to worry about things such as wars with other countries, for those things aren't brought back here, so that's not even a factor to worry about. We're at war at home, with our government, our family, and with ourselves.
One might argue that being free is not giving the government tax money to waste, it all depends on your perspective. Hence it's unclear how one must attain freedom. Freedom is not being able to do whatever you want without restriction, that we will never attain. If we're not slaves, then what freedom is left to attain?

In this country, your freedom is restricted by limtations put in place by someone of a higher authority, or maybe even yourself. Some limit themselves, but others are held back by the government, employers, or simply one's parents (though this factor is only temporary). An authority will limit you based off of your age; background (race, where you're from, what school they want to, your past); the level of maturity, or responsibility you're percieved to have; your mental or physical health-such factors help determine how free you really are. One's actual "freedom", is decided after these limitations are put into place. The little leeway that's left over is your freedom.

I wouldn't sacrifice much for freedom because the most freedom you can have in this country, comes with age. Basically I only have to be patient to attain my "freedom". So all I'd be sacrificing is my effort, how determined in getting the most out of it, being sure I have as few limitations as possible. That consist of being patient, and not breaking the law. How hard is that?

Prisoners are freedomless and to me if you are not free you are just a slave.
